Le Petit Journal - Le President Kruger A Menton , original colour cover, with cream mount board (suitable for framing), 43.7 cms x 56 cms, condition: very good.

Le Petit Journal was a daily Parisian newspaper published from 1863 to 1944. It was one of the four major French dailies. In 1890, during the Boulangiste crisis, its circulation first reached one million copies. Five years later, it had a circulation of two million copies, making it the world's largest newspaper.
This image is from the Le Petit Journal, Sunday Supplement, the first mass market colour supplement in France. In an era when similar English language publications, 'The Illustrated London News', 'The Graphic' & 'The Sphere', were still invested in steel plate b&w engravings, these colour image types were a revelation.
Print is covered by removable protective plastic overlay.
