Expanded Clay Aggregate is the medium of choice for Dutch Bucket and Ebb and Flow hydroponic and aquaponic systems. It is also very effective in Deep Water Culture (DWC or Raft) systems. The balls are porous and hold a significant amount of water immediately available to the roots whilst the structure of the spheres result in significant gaps filled by air when not flooded.
