Ledebouria is a genus of deciduous or weakly evergreen bulbs in the Hyacinthaceae family. It is only recently established as a genus apart from Scilla which is a genus of the Northern Hemisphere. Ledebouria is found in India, Madagascar and Africa (mostly southern Africa). It is found mostly in areas of summer rainfall in subtropical savannas and grasslands in the eastern and northeastern parts of southern Africa. There are a few species found in winter rainfall areas as well.

Ledebouria marginata is a South African indigenous species from the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West Provinces. It was previously known as Scilla marginata and Scilla neglecta. This summer growing species has firm erect leaves that may be with or without purple spots. During spring it bears mauve or greenish flowers in a 20cm inflorescence.
