(NO MORE THAT 4 BOOKS PER ORDER ALLOWED SO THAT PARCEL WEIGHS 2 kg. OR LESS) - Book belonged to a library before but book and wrapper remained very good - 180 pg. >>> What a wonderful the discovery this little book was for me ! - Leipoldt was young and enthusiastic and so much was new and interesting to him. He appears to have a great regard and fondness for and seems to have taken a lot of trouble to write long detailed letters. They are fascinating to read today. As I already discovered in , Leipoldt was a keen observer and a thoughtful man. - Through these letters one can follow Leipoldt as he starts life as a young man, decides to travel to England to try his luck at freelance journalism. Then, thanks to the financial sponsorship of Bolus, he studies medicine at Guy's hospital in London. After completing his studies Leipoldt did a kind of 'gap year' and toured all over Europe visiting hospitals. He finishes off that tour with what sounds like amazing hike across the Alps from Austria to Italy. He also worked for a few months as the doctor on board the yacht of the American newspaper tycoon Joseph Pulitzer - The letters cover a wide range of subjects, reflecting Leipoldt and Bolus' mutual interest in botany, books, art and the politics of the day. - The only disappointment with this book is that it is a one-sided conversation. I would have loved to read
