The genus Lessertia is generating a large amount of interest in the world of medicine due to its potential for use in treating some forms of cancer and it's possible use for boosting the immune system with a clear use in the treatment for HIV/AIDS.

Lessertia montana or Bergkankerbossie as it is commonly known as it is commonly known, quickly grows into a 1 m shrub, bearing pea-like “parrot’s beak” red/scarlet flowers followed by seed pods.

The leaves are an unusual greyish green, borne on drooping branches.

As a mountain plant, this is a very Frost Hardy plant, suitable for outdoor culture throughout South Africa; this will make a showy and unusual addition to your garden.
