📖 Synopsis:
Let Him Have It is based on a true story from the UK. It follows Derek Bentley (played by Christopher Eccleston), a young man with learning difficulties, who was convicted of murder for allegedly shouting "Let him have it!" during a crime. Set in 1950s Britain, Bentley and a young accomplice, Christopher Craig, break into a warehouse and are confronted by the police. When the police attempt to arrest Craig, Bentley shouts "Let him have it!"which could have meant "Give him the gun" or "Shoot him." Craig then shoots and kills a police officer. Bentley is ultimately sentenced to death for this phrase. The film explores themes of injustice and controversy surrounding law enforcement.
