00300. R750. Letter from Prime Minister Schreiner to his author famous mother Olive Schreiner. c.1902. 120 x 160mm. Page has been folded in half. There are two punch marks at the top as if it had been placed in a file. Handwritten in black ink on grey paper.

Oliver Deneys Schreiner   (29 December 1890 27 July 1980), was a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of South Africa. One of the most renowned South African judges, he was passed over twice for the position of  for political reasons. He was later described as "the greatest Chief Justice South Africa never had".

Olive Schreiner was a South African author, anti-war campaigner and intellectual. She is best remembered today for her novel The Story of an African Farm, which has been highly acclaimed.
