Turn It On is essentially a greatest-hits album from English hitmakers Level 42. Though it does duplicate some of the tracks from the 1989 best-of set Level Best, the appearance of album tracks and outtakes from various stages of the band's career make Turn It On a solid overview in its own right and a more interesting release than Level Best, even if it doesn't include the band's two biggest hits (and only U.S. successes), "Something About You" and "Lessons in Love." Turn It On does contain a couple of clunkers ("Two Hearts Collide," the worst track from 1988's ghastly Staring at the Sun, and the stupid U.K. hit "Take Care of Yourself"), but this collection includes Level 42's hard to find "Love Meeting Love" and "(Flying on the) Wings of Love," the band's first two disco-flavoured U.K. hits, as well as choice album tracks such as the funky "True Believers" (from 1984's True Colours) and "I Sleep on My Heart" (from 1985's World Machine). A nice companion album to Level Best.
