The LG G3, is a fantastic device that has won numerous awards. This includes being named Best Smartphone of the Year – alongside the iPhone 6 – at the 2015 Mobile World Congress.
So what does the LG G4 do better?
Design
The new 5.5-inch LG G4 has one design feature that makes it stand out from the crowd: a genuine leather back that will be available in a variety of colours. This bucks the trend of sleek, shiny metallic finishes like the Samsung S6 and iPhone 6.
While a genuine leather phone may not suit everyone's tastes – like vegans for example – it's quite refreshing to see something a bit different on the market. If leather isn't your thing, there will also be a ceramic option with a more familiar metallic look and feel.
Camera
One of the most exciting improvements is the 16MP camera which features a f1.8 lens and 0.6 second shutter speed. This makes it one of the brightest and fastest smartphone cameras on the market. It will allow in 80% more light than the LG G3, allowing you to take photos in darker situations. It will also take photos much faster, meaning fewer blurry photos. The LG G4 also has an improved 8MP selfie camera, up from 2.1MP on the G3.
Display
The screen is the same size as the LG G3, but now has a 'quantum' display level which means 20% better colour reproduction, 25% brighter visibility outdoors and 50% more contrast.
Performance
The LG G4 has a removable 3 000mAh battery that LG says should last 20% longer than the battery on the G3. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. The microSD card can be expanded up to 2TB – that's 2 000GB.
Availability and pricing in South Africa has not yet been announced.
