Earthenware folk-art inspired plate hand-decorated by Polish-born Magda Jascinska for Liebermann Pottery in Johannesburg. Age: 1960s-1980s. No chips or cracks. Diameter 255 mm.

From modest beginnings in 1955 in a disused stable behind their house in Johannesburg, Sammy and Mary Liebermann succeeded in building up a thriving ceramics business which, over a period of some three decades, produced a distinctive and extremely popular range of tiles and wheel-thrown domestic earthenware.
