The history of a regiment is more than a collection of battle facts and military achievements. It is a story of men - of their courage, dedication to duty, and the comradeship of bearing arms uncommon cause. The Imperial Light Horse was born out of the turbulent times and event of early Johannesburg, and in its growing the regiment has shown the same courage, determination and resourcefulness as the city of its birth. For the I.L.H. is of Johannesburg and its history will evermore be enshrined in the annals of the city, as its old and honoured Regimental Colours enshrined in St. Mary's Cathedral in Johannesburg.
