On auction is this upmarket vintage late 70's SAR "TRANS KAROO" train set in very good operational condition. The set consists of: 1 x Class 5E Electric locomotive with complete panto-graphs (original Lima springs) in very good running condition with old style Lima couplings and factory fitted directional lights. This unit was fully tested, lubricated and operates well in both directions. Nothing seems to be missing from this loco, paintwork in very good condition; 1 x " JOHANNESBURG" passenger coach with double bogeys and stained brass wheel sets, Lima couplings. 1 x "SABIE" restaurant coach, with double bogeys and stained brass wheel sets, Lima couplings. 1 x Baggage van with double bogeys and stained brass wheel sets, Lima couplings. The previous owner glued 5c pieces to the undercarriage of these coaches that left glue marks after I removed them. I made aluminium cover strips to conceal the damage (see yellow circles) it is loosely fitted with press stick for the next owner to decide if it will be a permanent fixture. No corrosion on these models. The only paint damage to this set is a scratch on one side of the baggage van. (see yellow circle) Overall, it is in excellent condition for its age.
