| Notes | Lovely vintage starter set from the 1980's. I have tested the locomotive and it runs in both directions, will see if a video can be uploaded here. It is a bit noisy and a little pap simply from standing for many years. This MUST BE SERVICED or you are likely to break the plastic gears and render it unusable. As can be seen in the pictures, the pantographs are present and I have checked all springs present and panto action is working. The coaches are nice but, one has a missing ladder, this is extremely common on long bogie Lima coaches of this period, a design flaw they fixed a little too late. Also one bogie drops out, the clip simply doesn't click into its recess - also a common issue and many a Lima bogie coach has a self tapping screw as a replacement. I received this as part of a job lot and the rails were separate, but have matched them to what is specified on the side of the box. There was no controller. I fortunately had a spare in remarkably clean condition, which I used to test the loco with (it worked) before moving to my trusty Piko controller. All in all a complete working set that would be great for a collector, as a starter for a newcomer or to add to ones own SAR collection. PLEASE SERVICE THE LOCOMOTIVE BEFORE USING. If you do not and it stops working I cannot be held accountable. |
