Mountain phlox [ Linanthus Grandiflorus ] is beautiful California wildflower, and is a native of moist, semi-shaded environments, so try to duplicate those conditions. Also called California Phlox because of its native range, the plant has lilac, pink or white flowers that are funnel-shaped and sweetly fragrant. Thrives in sun or shade, but prefers well-drained soil with plenty of moisture. The plant has purple, pink, and white clusters of long-blooming, low-growing flowers.
Mountain phlox [ Linanthus Grandiflorus ] is one of the most fragrant annual wildflowers, and it has a long bloom period. The plant can be sown around low-growing perennials for midsummer bloom in the dry border. It is wonderful in pots, beds, and cascading over walls.
