Offered for sale is a fine small-medium sized Linn Ware studio pottery ceramic vase made circa the 1950's in Olifantsfontein North East of Johannesburg in what was then a remote rural semi industrial town. The vase is hand thrown on a potters wheel and made from earthenware glazed in a pale celadon colour with a russet brown accent on the rim of the vase in a mottled and stippled glaze. The shape is a less common baluster form with a large aperture slightly flared convex collar and a bulbous body tapering sharply to a round pedestal foot. The vase is marked with the LW manufacturers stamp in a circle impressed into the base with a metal lug.
