Linum grandiflorum rubrum Seeds

Common Names: Scarlet Flax, Red Flax

Scarlet Flax is an annual flower that is native to northern Africa and southern Europe. It is a hardy annual and once established this variety can tolerate immense heat and extremely dry conditions. Outstanding when planted with white-flowered or gray foliage plants. It provides quick easy color in borders or over bulbs. Reseeds readily, but is never a nuisance. Linum grandiflorum rubrum produces a profusion of bright scarlet 2.5-3.5cm summer flowers on 30-45cm plants. The glossy, deep scarlet red flowers bloom in profusion and are best admired if planted in density. This species, with brilliant red petals often edged in black, is a close relative of the flax used to produce linen. Sow seed in autumn in mild winter areas, early spring everywhere else.
