The self-titled debut album 'Little Brown Jeny' features the complimentary guitar stylings of Kent Little of Austin, TX, and Allen Brown of northern Virginia, along with the tremendous vocal talents of Jeny Nicholson of Los Angeles, CA. Kent and Jeny were among the founding members of the band Hearsay, and had known each other and toured together for 7 years prior to engaging in the little, brown, jeny project as a departure from the normal, heavy and contemporary rock influences of Hearsay. Allen Brown was a solo artist and founding member of Cadillac Dirt Band, and originally met Little and Nicholson in 1989 (in the early days of Hearsay). The three, along with other members of Hearsay and other bands, were a practical community of musicians in the Northern Virginia area from mid 1980s until the late 1990s. In 1994, Kent took a break from Hearsay to attend to some personal matters, and Allen filled in on rhythm guitar for a few tours before the band's unexpected disbanding toward the end of 1995. During breaks from touring in mid to late 1995, Little, Brown, and Nicholson began composing songs on acoustic guitar and piano that were an intentional departure from the heavier music the 3 played in other bands. In November, 1995, during the song-writing cycle of the little, brown, jeny project, Hearsay's lead guitar player and long-time friend, Richard Scott 'Scottie' Johnson, died suddenly and quite unexpectedly from complications from pneumonia. This event caused the song writing and music composing to take a turn toward the deep, personal, and reflective; resulting in songs that are heartfelt but not overbearing. A new little, brown, jeny album is planned for late 2010/early 2011, so the re-release of this original album was timely. We hope you enjoy.
