Live represents a milestone in the history of Afrikaans rock music ? or name it Trash Metal if you want. Die Naaimasjiene is the group that broadened the borders of Afrikaans lyrics in the early nineties. The album was recorded in 1996 and contains lyrics written as far back as 1990.
The group was initially called Randy Rambo & Die Dough Riders. Their first CD: Die Saai Lewe was banned in 1990 by the government. Die ban was lifted only in 1997 but an age restriction of 18 still had to apply. This CD was re-released in 1997 and also included new tracks that were written from 1990 ? 1997. Die Naaimasjiene Live was recorded at Moeritboeti Oppikoppi Festival in Northam 1996. Their song "S? ?n Gebed" was recorded by Johannes Kerkorrel on his CD Ge-trans-for-meer under the title "S? S?". Die Naaimasjiene was also asked by Sonja Heroldt to do an arrangement of "S? ?n Gebed" for her caberet show Uncensored. This version is the bonus track on Live.
