Long Cecil, a 4.1-inch recoilless breach loading gun was designed by George Labram (American Engineer) and Edward Goffe (Chief Daughtsman for the De Beers Mining) and manufactured in De Beer’s workshops during the Siege of Kimberley in the first the Anglo-Boer war. The main purpose was counteract the 75 mm Krupp Boer guns employed singly around the town just outside the range of the 2.5 inch British guns defending the town.
This 1/8 scale model is a true replica of the original gun. Handmade in every detail and design, making use of the same materials, namely steel and brass, this model is one of a kind. The models only differs from the original in the fact that it has no internal rifling cut into the barrel. This model was made for display purpose and is therefore not a operational unit.
