The laptop turns on then turns off again, it does not post, it does go into diagnostics mode but it seems that it cannot complete the diagnostics. It seems that the display turns on but is extremely dim, it turned off with a pop shortly after power had returned during a municipal power outage.
It had previously been successfully repaired by a third party due to mainboard failure where it would not turn on, apparently this was due to the docking port.
The laptop sat on a table (work machine), it has signs of usage but is in good condition.

Lent this out to a colleague and it came back non-functional, it does not power on at all. I think they may have used an incorrect power adapter (16v HP printer adapter) and this may have caused component failure on the mainboard. I am just guessing, I do not know what is wrong with it.
It spent most of its life on a table and was used for work, it shows signs of wear but is in otherwise good condition.

The laptop turns on, would boot into the OS and works fine other than the battery capacity being extremely poor, it effectively turns off unless there is AC power.
The hinge at the back of the screen may be damaged or out of alignment, it opens and closes fine though, the hinge works it just looks like does not fit together correctly.
The rubberised navy blue lid / cover on the top of the machine has aged and become sticky, I believe that they are easily replaceable as they came in many colours and variations with design but I have not been able to find a locally stocked replacement for it.

All parts including battery (1-2 hours) and power supply, HOWEVER, the power supply is not the original Dell adapter as this had failed and was replaced with an Acer power supply. Packed in an e-Machines laptop box.
It is a machine that was used in the field, shows signs of long term usage, cracks on two corners as indicated in the pictures.
It turns on and boots to Windows, HOWEVER, there is an intermittent issue with the display where the screen goes grey for a few seconds, see the last image.
I have had it happen when typing or bumping the machine slightly, usually when unplugging or plugging in the power cable but it is not reproducible when trying to produce the issue, it is an intermittent issue.
Is perhaps due to a loose connections or damaged cable, I am just guessing as I have no idea what is wrong with it.
