These signs represent an era when narrow gauge rail was still a major attraction is SA. The Apple Express was one of Port Elizabeth's biggest attractions and is now only a distant memory. The great train race was probably its biggest call to fame with runners from all over SA participating in the race against the majestic steam locomotive.
The signs come from the original platform where the Apple Express departed from in Humewood on the PE beachfront. Their condition is worn and faded but legible.
There are three signs in total. 1 x double sided metal framed sign with vinyl decals (515mm x 485mm). 1 x Hardboard painted & vinyl sign (1225mm x 615mm) and 1 x PVC banner. The banner is faded and brittle with age but still usable as a display.
CONDITION IS AS SHOWN.
