This item is secondhand and in overall good vintage condition with the Ambrotypes showing some wear. The ambrotype also known as a collodion positive, is a positive photograph on glass made by a variant of the wet plate collodion process. Like a print on paper, it is viewed by reflected light. A daguerreotype is a photograph taken by an early photographic process employing an iodine-sensitized silvered plate and mercury vapour. The three ambrotype show marks to the glass while the daguerreotype is in good condition. All the split cases close with small brass latches and have age wear which is not surprising considering their age. The ambrotypes measure 9 x 11cm, 7,5 x 6cm, and 7,5 x 6cm (closed), while the dagguerreotype measures 8 x 9cm when closed. Please view images as part of description. Welcome to combine items.
