Love and Money - Dogs in the Traffic CD

I can't leave this bittersweet masterpiece unnoticed. I suspect this came in to the house in a collection and got left on a shelf for years until one day about 4 years ago, curiosity finally overcame me. I had no preconceptions, had never heard the earlier album or heard them on the radio. Very quickly I was struck by the tight playing of a soulful band and a vocal delivery with a hint of late George Michael about it. It has become the 90s rock album that gets the most spins in my collection. I bought their other stuff on the strength of this. They split up a quarter of a century ago at time of writing, but for me they are in that pantheon of great slightly off kilter Scottish rock with The Bathers, The Blue Nile and Belle & Sebastian etc. For those who share my preference, this is fantastic sounding on record. Side 2 is probably slightly stronger but the side 1 closing You're not the Only One is a perfect love song, not syrupy, but loaded with emotion. - AllMusic User Review
