Lovely Pair of Early Japanese Porcelain Vases 

This lovely, early pair of small, matching Japanese porcelain vases have a wonderful round narrow shape and are beautifully hand-painted under glaze, with some pretty overglaze gilt work. The one side features a lovely scene of blue and red irises with a blue butterfly above, and the other side features two koi fish swimming amongst pale shades of blue, with colourful leaves and branches above. The dark blue rounded sides have green, and orange decorated round patches, with some being slightly raised, like fish scales. Both vases are in excellent condition and each carry a small blue underglaze mark on their base. They stand 10cm high, and measure 9cm x 5cm.
