Lovely Vintage Copper & Brass 'HEKLICHT' Ships Lantern (MIRALDA)
This lovely, early, large nautical copper and brass 'HEKLICHT' ships lamp or lantern, with its ribbed clear glass 'Fresnel' lens, has a hinged lid with a brass handle and a rear bracket for mounting. There are two small brass plates, one on the lid that reads 'HEKLICHT' and the other on the front below the light that reads 'MIRALDA', which I believe was the ships name. There's also the number 'R 28710' stamped into the copper on the side, as well as engraved onto the glass. I think this lamp was originally operated with oil or gas but it has since been converted to electricity and other than a small chip to the glass it's in great condition with a lovely, aged patina. The lamp measures 23,5cm x 23cm, stands 32cm high and weighs 4,1kg.
