BIRCH HIMSELF DATED FOR 20/10/81 AND IS NUMBERED NO. 85 IN THE SERIES, WHICH I BELEIVE WAS THE VERY FIRST TO BE PUBLISHED, EACH PICTURE MEASURES 43 CM X31 CM AND THEY ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION. MR. K.S.BIRCH PASSED AWAY AGED 96 AT HIS HOME IN MELROSE, JOHANNESBURG ON THE 31 stJULY, 2010. HE GRADUATED AS AN ARCHETECT FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WITWATERSTRAND. AFTER 5 YEARS IN THE ARMY K.S.BIRCH JOINED THE ANGLO AMERICAN CORPORATION. THE BIRCH WATERCOLOUR SKETCHES ARE OF SPECIAL AFRICANA INTEREST.
