Looking for a plant that's both stylish and symbolic? Lucky Bamboo ticks both boxes. At around 45cm tall, it's compact enough for a desk or shelf but still makes an impact. Known for symbolising luck and positive energy, it's one of those plants people love giving as giftsor keeping for themselves!

Long Description with Care Guide

Commonly known as: Lucky Bamboo
Botanical name: Dracaena sanderiana

Lucky Bamboo has long been associated with prosperity, happiness, and good fortune, especially in Feng Shui traditions. Its tall, elegant canes and glossy green leaves make it a striking yet low-maintenance plant for the home or office. At 45cm in height, it's just the right size to fit on a table, shelf, or reception counter while still standing tall enough to be noticed.

Lucky Bamboo Care Guide

Light: Lucky Bamboo thrives in bright, indirect light but adapts well to lower light conditions, making it ideal for homes and offices. Avoid placing it in direct sun as this may scorch the leaves.

💧 Watering: Traditionally grown in water, Lucky Bamboo should be kept in a glass vase or container with enough water to cover the roots. Replace the water every two weeks to keep it fresh and prevent algae. If you prefer to grow it in soil, keep the mix lightly moist but never soggy.

🌱 Soil option: When planting in soil, use a well-draining mix. A blend like our Aroid Mix works beautifully, especially when paired with Perlite for extra drainage.

🍃 Fertiliser: Lucky Bamboo doesn't need much feeding. A small amount of organic fertiliser every 68 weeks is more than enough to keep it healthy. If it's in water, use only a drop or two of liquid fertiliser to avoid root burn.

🌡 Temperature & Humidity: It prefers warm conditions and does best in average indoor environments in South Africa. Keep it away from cold draughts or air conditioners.

🪴 Repotting / Refreshing: If grown in water, refresh the container and trim the roots occasionally to prevent overcrowding. If grown in soil, repot every 1218 months with fresh mix.

Whether you believe in its symbolism or simply admire its sculptural look, Lucky Bamboo is a fantastic, fuss-free plant to have around.
