A UVB light like these is often an essential item for rainforest reptiles. Without an adequate source of UVB like this, they cannot synthesise enough Vitamin D3 to efficiently assimilate the calcium in their diet and help turn it into strong bones, and can get ill as a result.

5% is just about right for most rainforest reptiles, such as chameleons, crested geckos and water dragons, as much of the UV light generated by the sun is filtered out by the rainforest canopy, and these 5% UVB Lamps simulate that filtered UV - perfect!

As a fluorescent strip light (rather than a compact UV), they are best fitted into a terrarium hood unit or canopy, encompassing the whole length of your reptile's habitat, ensuring they receive UV all the time except when in their hide. These are recommended to be replaced every 6 months, in order to keep your reptile in the best health.
