Peridot

Peridot is atransparent lime or olive green member of the olivine family. Peridots are one of the few gemstoneswhich come in one color. The intensity of the color depends on the amount of iron present in the stone. The color itself can vary over all shades of yellowish green and olive to a brownish green.

Peridots can be found in Pakistan and Afghanistan. They are also found in Burma, China, U.S., Africa, South America, and Australia. Peridots have a hardness of 6.5 - 7 on the Mohs' Scale of Hardness.

Peridots can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Ultrasonic cleaners should not be used.
