Mabalingwe Week 1 Chalet 66
Mabalingwe is a private nature reserve located within 25 kms from Bela-Bela (previously Warmbaths). Week 1 starts yearly on the first Friday of January. It is normally hot but not unpleasantly so, leaving one with lots of energy to enjoy action sports such as squash, tennis or even putt-putt. Alternatively one may prefer lazing about at one of the well situated pools or jacuzzi. As the sun sets, it is always good to enjoy a drink at the pub overlooking the hippo dam.
Week 1 is a sought-after peak red week that often falls entirely within the Gauteng public school holidays. At Mabalingwe the chalets are situated at a comfortable distance from one another and one neither hears nor sees one's neighbours. Chalet 66 is located on the slopes of Ingwe camp and this chalet offers magnificent views of the valley below. When I originally bought this timeshare, the salesman took me to the site (only the foundation had been laid) and said that in his opinion, this chalet is best situated in the whole of Ingwe camp (salesmen and their promises, yes I know, I know, but he WAS a clean faced newly married "boetie" from the Free State and his wife was as lovely as a Knysna loerie). The chalet is a six sleeper and has two private double bedrooms and two bathrooms. The remaining two beds are in a loft area that overlooks the lounge. In the timeshare market it is in itself is quite rare to find that the fifth and sixth beds are private, they are indeed ideal for kids - the staircase is quite secure and the kids can doze off out of sight while evesdropping on their parents conversation.
A week at Mabalingwe is a fantastic way to start a new year. Each chalet in this RCI Gold Crown resort is well equipped and tastefully decorated. Facilities at this resort are varied and there is entertainment for each member of the family. Facilities and activities at Mabalingwe are easily verified with Google search and I shall not attempt to list all here. The resort is well stocked with wildlife, including the "big 5" (although lions are kept in a separate enclosure).
I have experienced moments of real magic at Mabalingwe. Warthog families (complete with babies) ascend the stoep steps whenever they hear the rustling of a packet of crisps. Every night a bush pig rummages on the stoep and devours whatever is left on the "braai". The shy Nyala walks through the camp before sunrise. During the night ride, the spotlight sometimes reveals Mommy and Baby hippo eating from someone's dustbin! At Mabalingwe I once sat in the back seat of the landie which was being followed by three hungry looking hyena! Arriving home one afternoon after a long walk, I found my bungalow invaded by monkeys, startled at my "invasion" and running out in "Indian file", each vigorously protecting his bounty, a bunch of bananas or grapes, an apple or orange, or other treasure. Every morning, I used to throw bread crumbs onto the "stoep" and watch tens and tens and ultimately hundreds of birds swooping down to feast. Towards midday, squirrels make their appearance, begging nuts and muesli. Mabalingwe is a magical place :)

All levies are up to date. The levy for 2014 is R6163 and is payable before occupation on 3 January 2014. The transfer fee is payable by the buyer and is approx R787.

If this appeals to you, send me a BidOrBuy "question", stating the type of holiday that would suit you best - preferred province or destination, preferred type (beach, mountains etc.), preferred month, preferred duration (week / weekend / midweek) and number of people (2 / 4 / 6) - and I will reply with the best alternatives that I can come up with and that will fit into my (rather generous) points budget. I have no need for all these points and I am happy to let you have them.
If you then decide to go ahead with the Mabalingwe purchase, please give me a first and second choice from the alternatives I proposed. Please note that I will only book once the sale is irreversible - hence my offer is subject to availability - this is unlikely to be an issue, however in the unlikely event of your first & second choice being fully booked, I will negotiate an alternative of equal value with you.
This is really a good buy for a person with a family, the kids will be busy every minute of the day. I am on my own now, this is why I want to sell because I am not using this timeshare any more :).
