Notes | Note that the text in this novel is in French. The Comtesse de La Fayette wrote this iconic historical novel (regarded as the first historical novel in French) anonoumously in 1678. It is actually as much non - fiction as fiction and accurately covers much biographical information of the life of Anne of Cleves, fourth wife of Henry VIII of England. The real value of the book sold here lies in the facts that it has such a lovely binding, three really good copperplate etchings which are good enough in their own right to be framed and displayed, and that it is printed on quality laid Japan paper of the quality normally used for etch printing since the book is part of the luxury Petite Biliotheque de Luxe series, AS SUCH THIS BOOK HAS A PLACE ON THE SHELF OF EVERY SERIOUS COLLECTOR OF ANTIQUARIAN BOOKS. Go for it! HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT THE IMAGES. |
