Madeleine - A Story of the Resistance (Rare book)

This is a collector's book, published in 1952 (second impression).  The book is hardcover.  Cover is worn but internal pages and the book itself are in good condition considering the age.

"Madeleine's" real name was Noor Inayat Kahn.  When the Germans invaded France in 1940, she came to England, joined the WAAF and later volunteered to return to France and work with the Resistance.  Secretly infiltrated in 1943 as a Radio Operator, she arrived unluckily on the eve of the biggest catastrophe ever suffered by our networks, and was left, almost from the start, the only British officer in the Paris area and the sole link between Paris and London.
