Synopsis of Dolf Wyllarde's book Mafoota:

Mafoota is a 1909 romance novel by Dolf Wyllarde, set in Jamaica. The novel tells the story of Mafoota, a beautiful young Jamaican woman, and her love for the Englishman, Sir Alan Cary.

Sir Alan is a wealthy planter who comes to Jamaica to take over his family's estate. He is immediately smitten with Mafoota, and they begin a passionate romance. However, their relationship is forbidden, as interracial relationships are taboo in Jamaican society at the time.

Despite the odds, Mafoota and Sir Alan are determined to be together. They keep their relationship a secret, but it is eventually discovered by Sir Alan's family and friends. They are pressured to end their relationship, but they refuse.

In the end, Mafoota and Sir Alan defy convention and marry. They face many challenges, but their love for each other remains strong.

The novel explores themes of race, class, and gender in Jamaican society at the turn of the 20th century. It is a story of forbidden love and the power of perseverance.
