The Nkalakatha is back – with an album that will once again see Mandoza claim his rightful position as kwaito’s unparalleled king.

Titled Phunyuka Bamphethe, the 14-track release contains as many supercharged dance floor hits as radio chart-toppers, and also features a more sensitive side to the multi-award winner in tracks like “Hope” and “Mama”, both of which Mandoza co-wrote.

Mandoza’s contribution as a songwriter is unmistakable on Phunyuka Bamphethe and it plays an important role in ensuring the lyrics on the album will speak directly to his fans, many of whom have grown up with the star.

Phunyuka Bamphethe once again teams up Mandoza with his regular producer, Gabi Le Roux with the two working on the likes of deep-kwaito track, “Mayingekho Ayikho”, and the spiritual “Amen”. Other producers in the mix include D-Rex, who produced the album’s title track and is known for producing hits and Guffy, who again is one of the country’s most respected producers.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the creative coupling of Mandoza with none other than Arthur Mafokate who produced “Nogonondo ” and “Nogonondo II” – and the results speak for themselves.
