This beautifully illustrated book explores the history of the Mapula Embroidery Project, one of South Africas most critical and inspiring community art initiatives. Formed in 1991 in the Winterveld region, the project empowers local women by transforming vibrant, complex fabric pieces into compelling personal commentaries on social and political issues.
It includes a personal handwritten inscription and signature from Janetje van der Merwe, a pivotal patron and coordinator of the Mapula project. The book is preserved in very good condition with no internal damage. Dust jacket some shelf wear and covered in a removable protective plastic.
