Marie Seymour Lucas was a French born English painter. She studied at in London at the Royal Academy.  Her birth name was Maria Elizabeth Cornelissen, but she painted and exhibited under the name "Marie Cornelissen", "Marie Seymour Lucas" as well as under "Mrs. John Seymour Lucas" after she married the historical painter John Seymour Lucas in 1877. 

A chromolithograph is made using anywhere from eight to forty stones, one for each color.
