VINTAGE FRAMED ENGRAVING by EDWARD DUNCAN of BRIG. JANE & CUTTER BEAUFOY - ANTIQUE MARITIME WHALING
This engraving/print is an extremely rare item. The painting was done by W.HUGGINS and the engraving by E.DUNCAN, (1803-1882) both an English MASTER painter and engraver. The item is Titled at the bottom -- " This Plate, representing the BRIG.JANE & CUTTER BEAUFOYm On 20th February 1823, bearing up in 74:15" S (being the highest southern latitude ever reached) is most respectfully dedicated by their very obedient and humble servant W. J. Huggins. Engraved by E. Duncan."
The ship 'Jane' sailed from London 5 October 1822 on a sealing and whaling cruise. This was at least her fourth cruise as a sealer or whaler.

Framed in a BEAUTIFUL carved wood frame with Lovely Gold Trim both on the inner and outer rim. The frame has protective Glass and is wired to be hung up. On the back is a label -- "The Clover Leaf Collection - Made in the United Kingdom" as well as another -- "These paintings have been reproduced with kind permission of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich"
