All-Action Classics

Tom Sawyer

Paperback  2008

Graphic Action Novels... more traction with Kids somehow

This version is a really low reading level, which is exactly what I was wanted. It even has a number of panels without words, so some sections are more like a picture book. I bought this for my 8 yr. old grandson, who isn't a fluent reader yet. I think it is perfect for his level. The only thing that I don't like is the font is stylized and paler in color, so it is a little difficult to read.

With its lively, fun narrative and irrepressible hero, Tom Sawyer is tailor-made for the graphic novel form. Just imagine such classic moments as Tom and Becky in the bat-filled cave or the hilarious fence-painting incident captured in bright and atmospheric images. Tim Mucci, one of the most talented up-and-coming comics' illustrators today, has endowed each character with personality and each scene with movement and energy. Every frame is filled with such detailfrom the buildings to the carefully created backgroundsthat readers will feel as if they could step right into Twains wonderful world
