It has funnel shaped flowers with maroon stripes in the throat.

Markhamia zanzibarica begins to bloom when 3-5 ft tall.

The Bell bean tree grows well even in poor soil.

The fruits are carried slender capsules. The seeds are winged. Germination is rapid & the growth rate is moderate during the first year. This tree has great potential for container plantings.
