May 1936 a cross guard on the Berlin/Hamburg mainline nearly crapped in his pants. Down the line somewhere, there was an eerie howl. Like a mix between a gasturbine and a steamhorn. The next moment this locomotive blitzed past at just over 200km/h. Now, I am going to ruffle feathers, but do not tell me Mallard was faster..... because it wasn't. Mallard ran downhill, and I am a transport man, I know the effect of weight, the BR05 did its run on a slight incline!!! Producing 3500hp and screaming its head off. Mallard had to be almost completely overhauled after its 200km/h run..... the BR05 ran for years, and to this day still hold some of the records on the Hamburg Berlin route for time taken between stops. This thing was a monster, end of story. At the bottom of this ad, look at the pictures of it next to the biggest BR01 ever produced (with 5 axle tender) and a normal BR03. And no, those are not included in the deal hehehehe.
Lots of guys tell me that it is ugly, but is it really? Form over function. Those of you that own the non- streamlined BR05 item no 39050 will know what beauty hides underneath there. 2.3m drivers, 200psi boiler..... everything to make it fast. It is to me the pinnacle of the steam era. Like formula one, this was as good as it was going to get.
Right, the model.... it is completely metal, with just the sliders on top of the tender in plastic. It has a full 14 function MFX decoder with all the sounds. Maintenace free LED lights and motor. Frankly, the most train for the money Marklin has at the moment.
Item is brand new, and because I will not get into a bloody price war, I will let you decide the price. It is worth R5k, whichever way you look at it. Whoever takes it, will still get the terms option. 20% deposit. Let's go. There is no reserve.
Postage will be R100 insured post in the RSA or come fetch it in Benoni
