Book and wrapper in very good condition - Does mention inside that some person won it at school as second prize - Wrapper now in removable plastic sleeve.  >>>  Marquard was a founder member of NUSAS and the Liberal Party, member of the Editorial Board of Reality, founder member of the Institute of Race Relations, Author and Historian.  -  Very left wing it seems, friend of Bram Fisher  -  During 1972 there was increased attack on leading figures in South Africa who were opposed to the government’s policies. Amongst those attacked were Rev Theo Kotze and Geoff Budlender. Leo Marquard’s home was also petrol bombed.  At the time he was busy organizing the Students’ Defence Fund. The following year (1973), he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Law by The University of the Witwatersrand.
