The all-sapele dreadnought body of the D-10E produces a big, varied tone with emphasis on the bass but a strong mid and treble response as well. First introduced by Martin to the world in 1916, dreadnought acoustics didn't really explode until the 1930s when itinerant players on the then-popular circuits of the South and the East Coast fell in love with the big sound it brought to bluegrass, country, and folk ensembles.
