MARXS CONCEPT OF MAN
By Erich Fromm

Condition: Good. Slight edge wear to covers and minor age toning to spine; interior clean and unmarked, binding firm.

About the Book:
In Marxs Concept of Man, Erich Fromm offers a penetrating reinterpretation of Karl Marxs humanist philosophy one that distinguishes the authentic, early Marx from the rigid ideological Marxism later identified with Soviet totalitarianism.

Fromm recovers Marxs profound concern with alienation, freedom, and the creative potential of human beings within social life. His argument insists that Marxs thought was not merely economic or political, but existential and ethical a vision of man as self-realizing through work, love, and meaningful activity.

Drawing on Marxs Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts, Fromm situates Marx in dialogue with the modern human condition, exposing both the dehumanizing effects of capitalism and the distortions of bureaucratic socialism. His afterword clarifies Marxs enduring relevance as a critic of both East and West.

About the Author:
Erich Fromm (19001980) was a German-born psychoanalyst, humanist philosopher, and social theorist whose work bridged Marxist and Freudian traditions. He taught at Yale, Columbia, and the National University of Mexico. His major writings including Escape from Freedom, The Art of Loving, and The Sane Society explore the psychological roots of social conformity and the quest for authentic human existence.
