There are three different types of salt water pearls, Akoya, South Sea and Tahitian
Akoya pearls range from 2-10mm with an average of 6-7mm. These pearls are generally spherical in shape and colours range from white to cream, and all other colours are assumed dyed.
AAA - Pearls have a high lustre and are gracefully shaped. They are precisely matched in size, colour and overtone. The pearls may have minute differences that are barely visable to most people.
AA - Pearls are nicely shaped and have a medium to high lustre. These pearls have good uniformity in size, colour and overtone. Pearls can have slight blemishes on the surface that are noticed only when looking closely at the pearl.
A - Pearls are faily evenly shaped and have a low to medium lustre. These are faily uniform in size, colour and overtone. Pearls may have blemishes and/or wrinkles on the surface.
