Set in a coffee shop in Port Elizabeth in the 1950s, a white South African boy becomes aware of the meaning of racism.

"Master Harold... and the boys was based on a real incident in Fugard's boyhood that haunted him for years and revealed the corrupting power apartheid could have, even on children. The play was rated by the Royal National Theatre in London as one of the most significant plays of the 20th century.
