About Captain Marvel (Shazam):

Billy Batson and his sister Mary were born to archaeologists C. C. and Marylin Batson. Their parents were tragically killed by Theo Adam during an expedition in Egypt, and Mary was kidnapped. Separated from his sister and left in the care of his uncle Ebenezer, Billy was eventually thrown out and left homeless.

Living a hard life in Fawcett City as a newsboy, Billys fate changed when a mysterious stranger led him to a hidden subway tunnel. There, Billy discovered a magical train that took him to a cavern housing statues of the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man. He met the ancient wizard Shazam, who chose Billy to become the champion of good, transforming him into Captain Marvel by speaking the wizard's name.
