**About Steel:**

Doctor John Henry Irons, a brilliant weapons engineer for AmerTek Industries, became disillusioned when his BG-60 energy cannon was used to kill innocents. Faking his death to escape the company, he relocated to Metropolis and began a new life. 

While working at a construction site, John saved a coworker from falling, only to fall himself and be rescued by Superman. Inspired by Supermans advice to "live a life worth saving," John attempted to help during Supermans battle against Doomsday but was buried in rubble. After Superman's death, John discovered that gangs in Metropolis were using upgraded versions of his weapons.

Determined to stop the violence, John created a suit of powered armor in Superman's memory. As Steel, he fought to end the gang war and stop the distribution of his deadly weapons.
