Product OverviewThe MAX3100CEE+T is a SPI/MICROWIRE compatible UART in 16 pin QSOP package. Thisis the first UART specifically optimized for small microcontroller basedsystems. By using an SPI/MICROWIRE interface for communication with hostmicrocontroller (µC), the asynchronous I/O is suitable for use in RS232, RS485,IR and opto-isolated data links. IR-link communication is easy with device'sinfrared data association (IrDA) timing mode. It includes a crystal oscillatorand a baudrate generator with software programmable divider ratios for allcommon baud rates from 300 baud to 230k baud and two hardware handshakingcontrol lines are included (one input and one output). A software or hardwareinvoked shutdown lowers quiescent current to 10µA while allowing the IC todetect receiver activity.
