Product OverviewThe MAX3221EAE+T is a 3V to 5.5V RS232 transceiver with AutoShutdown in 16 pinSSOP package. The on board power supply and driver shut downs when the devicedoes not sense a valid signal level on their receiver input. This occurs if theRS232 cable is disconnected or if the transmitters of the connected peripheralare turned off. The system turns on again when a valid level is applied to anyRS232 receiver input. It requires only 0.1µF capacitors in 3.3V operation andcan operate from input voltage ranging from +3V to +5.5V.
