Product OverviewThe MAX3222ECWN+T is a ±15KV ESD protected true RS232 transceiver in 18 pinWSOIC package. This 3V powered EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 communicationsinterface device has low power consumption, high data rate capabilities andenhanced ESD protection. The enhanced ESD structure protects all transmitteroutputs and receiver inputs to ±15KV using IEC 1000-4-2 air-gap discharge, ±8KVusing IEC 1000-4-2 contact discharge and ±15KV using human body model. A lowdropout transmitter output stage delivers true RS232 performance from 3V to 5.5Vpower supply using an internal dual charge pump. The charge pump requires onlyfour small 0.1µF capacitors for operation from 3.3V supply. The MAX3222E has tworeceivers and two transmitters. It also features 1µA shutdown mode that reducespower consumption in battery powered portable systems.
